The majority of our vines are PIWIs (a German abbreviation for Pilzwiderstandsfähig) meaning they have been bred and selected for high resistance to fungal diseases.  This means less spraying which benefits the environment and wildlife.

A wide variety of hand planted vines

The first vines were planted in 2021.  We planted by hand following sustainable and organic principles and our first vineyard is certified with Sustainable Wine GB.  Gradually the number and variety of vines has increased until today we have 14,000 in total with 13 different varietals.

Our first harvest began in 2023 with a small batch of vines

We had our first small run of wine from the 2023 growing season.  We started producing our own wine on site in 2024 and anticipate the 2025 season to be our first significant production year.  Our aim is to produce a range of outstanding, characterful wines that reflect the cooler climate of Yorkshire and the unique terroir of the area.

Sustainability

We use fungicides and fertilizers that are certified organic with all the areas of planting following the Sustainable Wine GB guidelines.

Our Vines

We have planted 13 vine varieties, including Bacchus, Muscaris, Solaris, Divico and Seyval Blanc.  All the vines were lovingly hand planted and nurtured until now they are able to repay us with their juicy grapes.

The Winery

We developed our own winery using it for the first time in 2024 with a very small crop of Phoenix and Rondo.  The winery incorporates photovoltaic panels which provide the electricity for the winery and tasting room.  We also use rainwater catchment where potable water is not required.
